12 Spring 2020 Nail Trends You’ll Want to Try Immediately

IDC if it’s fall! I’m wearing these right TF now.

In all honesty, my favorite part of Fashion Week is when it ends. And, no, it’s not just ’cause my Instagram feed is no longer flooded with #fashun content (which, don’t get me wrong, is also nice when the mood is right)—it’s that the end of Fashion Week means it’s officially time to comb through the prettiest beauty trends and map out what I’m trying first. This year, the spring 2020 shows churned out so many inspo-worthy manicures, like modern French manisminimalist accents, and animal prints. Ahead, I rounded up the 12 best spring 2020 nail trends that you’re going to see everywhere next season (if not sooner; I’m impatient) to get you inspired for the new season.

1. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Creamy Hues

I mean, does anything feel more inherently ~spring~ than creamy nail polishes? Nail artist Miss Pop sent models down the Oscar de la Renta runway with the prettiest combinations of oranges and pinks against taupes and creams.

✨Recreate it with: OPI Nail Polish in Crawfishin’ for a Compliment and Zoya Nail Polish in Tatum.

2. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Micro French Manicure

One of the most surprising nail trends for spring 2020? French manicures. Unlike the blunt French manis of the early aughts, though, the 2020 version is super subtle and dainty, like Betina Goldstein’s micro interpretation at the Khaite show (think: minimalist white tips and ultra-glossy bases).

✨Recreate it with: Essie Nail Polish in Pearly White and Essie Gloss Fit.

3. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Minimalist Accents

Want to get in on the minimalist vibe without going the French mani route? No problem, since itty-bitty accents—like Miss Pop’s white dots at Oscar de la Renta—are on the rise, too. Consider this spring nail trend the low-key way to try out nail art.

✨Recreate it with: Zoya Nail Polish in Laurel and Cirque Colors Cream Nail Polish in Carpe Diem.

4. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Maximalist Accents

And on the totally flip side, maximalist accents (like, over-the-top jewels and glitter nail polishes) are worth paying attention to if you’re into the statement-making trends. I personally will be using Naomi Yasuda’s super-extra nails from the Bibhu Mohapatra show as my ultimate spring 2020 inspo.

✨Recreate it with: Nails Inc. Nailpure Top Coat and Tinksky Nail Stickers.

5. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Animal Prints

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Animal prints are going to continue into 2020, and not just on your midi skirts. Yup, your nails will also be getting the animal treatment, as seen on the super-bold manicures at the Jeremy Scott show (courtesy of Miss Pop, again).

✨Recreate it with: Dashing Diva Magic Press Pink Leopard Short Press-On Gel Nails.

6. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Pastel Yellow

I know, I know—pastels for spring? Groundbreaking. But seriously, this super-dreamy shade of creamy yellow is going to be ev-ery-where come spring, and I’m not mad about it. Before you book your mani appointment, make sure you take a peek at Jinsoon’s inspo-worthy work from the 3.1 Phillip Lim runway.

7. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Mixed Mediums

If you’re indecisive as all hell, you’re going to love this mixed-medium manicure trend for spring 2020. Julie K. sent models down the Christian Siriano runway with mint-green polishes, matte tips, and lucite, sparkly bases. Kinda the best of both worlds, right?

✨Recreate it with: Essie Nail Polish in Mint Candy Apple and Zoya Nail Polish in Cosmo Magical Pixiedust.

8. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Metallics

Heavy metal is in, folks, as proven by Marian Newman’s ultra-long, metallic nails at the Julien Macdonald show. If acrylics are kinda your thing, prepare to try out this spring 2020 nail trend immediately—it was practically made for long-ass nails.

✨Recreate it with: Smith & Cult Nail Polish in Dirty Baby.

9. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Barely There Polish

Upon first glance, the Jinsoon manicures at the Coach show seem...non-existent. If you look more closely, though, you’ll see the models walked the runway with barely there polish against clean, healthy nails. If this is a trend for spring 2020, pls sign me up.

✨Recreate it with: Jinsoon Sheer Gloss.

10. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Pearl Tips

Not over pearls? Good, me either. Among the many inspo-worthy spring beauty moments at Alice and Olivia (did you SEE the lavender sprigs in the models’ hair?!), Gina Edwards’s pearl-accented nails ranked pretty damn high.

✨Recreate it with: Kiss Sensibility Salon Acrylic French Nude Nails and Kiss Salon SecretsNail Art Starter Kit.

11. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Negative Space

Mabelyn Martin—the creative director behind NYC’s Insta-famous nail salon Paintbox—was responsible for the cool negative-space manicures at the Ulla Johnson show. Like, sure, negative-space nail art is always a thing, but the subtle orange nail polish in this look feels extra fresh.

✨Recreate it with: Paintbox Nail Lacquer in Like Spice and Base Coat Clear Top Coat.

12. Spring 2020 Nail Trend: Matte Polish

Gina Edwards’s combination of animal-print nail art and matte nail polish for the Rebecca Minkoff show was unreal. Even if the animal print feels a little extra for your aesthetic, there’s no reason you shouldn’t try out a clean, matte-polish manicure for spring 2020.

✨Recreate it with: Zoya Nail Polish in Petra or Kiss Gel Fantasy Nails in Bookworm
